Speaker 1 What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to another exciting episode of the Vile Files Reality Recap Edition. I'm your host, Nick, joined by my beautiful wife.
We have the household in studio in LA.

Speaker 1 And boy, we are excited for today's episode. We got some great guests.
Sean Johnson, Olympic gold medalist, and her husband, Andrew East, are with us today. Excited to talk with them.

Speaker 1 They obviously are on Special Forces as a couple. Just one of the dynamic duos on Special Forces this year.
They're a fun couple.

Speaker 1 I've gotten to know them a little bit, and we are excited for them to join us. Also, Taylor Frankie Paul's, it's not her actual men.
It's like her suspected men.

Speaker 2 Does Bachelor keep taking my ideas that I'm giving them i think this happens every year and it's like somebody who's like

Speaker 1 well usually could be they announce like the actual cast no no no but they do this how many men did they release there's like 26.

Speaker 2 wait natalie were you telling me that i should make something earlier yes lay i was telling you that i saw this idea somewhere i'm sure but i made a email account for river and i like gave it to friends and family so that they could and then i wrote her one last night that people can send her like letters, attach photos, and like one day she'll be old enough to where she can like go through her own email address and like read

Speaker 2 what was going on in her life October 26, 2025, what was going on on her fourth birthday, like what the vibe was. Cause like I made a book for her first year of life.

Speaker 2 And then I feel like after the first year, you're just like in crazy toddler world and you're like, oh my God, I don't have time to like sit down and write you a story.

Speaker 2 So I was like, I made her this email account and I sent it to like my family group message. I sent it to my best friends.

Speaker 2 And I'm like, if you ever think about her, if you ever have time, like you should write her a letter and you should do it for Louis. It would be so sweet.

Speaker 4 Wait, I'm definitely going to do that because I feel like people like wrote him cards for like his birthday or whatever. And I'm just not someone who like is good at holding on to things.

Speaker 4 Like I put them all in like a box, but like that sounds so much easier to keep track of.

Speaker 1 Natalie told me yesterday that I need to write River too. And then I was like, I'll write her on her birthdays.

Speaker 1 But after last night, I'm going to write her a letter and tell tell her that she was, I'm really mad at her. No, that's not you mad at me.
Listen, honestly, you should. That would be a good one.

Speaker 1 Like, you really, you were a real

Speaker 1 EITCH last night.

Speaker 2 Listen, I randomly on Saturday, I randomly was like, you know what? I think I should take her binky away.

Speaker 2 And she only has ever used it for nap times. Like even when she started having a binky, like I was very strict on like, I'm like, we're not just going to be sucking on this throughout the day.

Speaker 2 Like only when you are going to sleep because she, like, I would tell if she had it in her mouth, she just like would not speak.

Speaker 1 And so I felt like, oh my God, you are going to be mute.

Speaker 2 So anyways, I can tell she's, she has a little pacifier mouth, which is, you know, so cute, whatever. But I'm like, you know, maybe it's time I just go ahead and get ahead of the curve.

Speaker 2 And so randomly on Saturday, I was like, let me just see if she goes down easy on her nap without her binky. And honestly, she went down great.
So then I was like, okay, let's try night time.

Speaker 2 And yesterday was our second night doing it. Nighttime is a little bit harder.

Speaker 2 She definitely falls asleep, but then she is just like, she wakes up in the middle of the night and she like cannot soothe herself because usually she would wake up and like find a binky and put it in her mouth and fall back asleep.

Speaker 2 But now she's like up and Nick went up to get her at what four?

Speaker 1 Four. Yeah.

Speaker 1 Okay. Great to hear.
And she just does it. I'm like, I'm like in zombie world right now.
Yeah. And then, you know, she points like first, I'll try to soothe her.

Speaker 1 If she's like, kind of in a daze, I can put her back to bed. If she's like up,

Speaker 1 she like wants us. She wants me to take her down to the bed.
So I picked her up and tried to soothe her. And she's like, no, no, no,

Speaker 1 no.

Speaker 1 And so then I bring her down, but then we bring her in bed. And now she like, she can't get settled because she doesn't have her bink.
So she's just tossing and turning and kicking.

Speaker 1 And like, she's kind of ready to get up. So then I brought her back upstairs and I'm rocking with her and I'm holding her.

Speaker 1 And I'm, she kind of fell back to sleep for a hot second, but she's never really getting settled. And then I put her down and I went back in the chair and I was like,

Speaker 1 shh,

Speaker 1 and then she's standing, and then she's like, up, dad, up, dad, and it was just like, that was an hour and a half of that.

Speaker 1 So I'm going to email her.

Speaker 2 Did she win the battle?

Speaker 1 No.

Speaker 4 No, at a certain point, you just accept your fate. And it's just like, I'm up.

Speaker 1 Thank God Nellie's mom's in town and she's helping us out right now.

Speaker 2 So, yeah, this is honestly a great time to do this because I'm like, my mom's in town.

Speaker 2 So if River's up at like 5:45, 6 a.m., I just text my mom being like, she's she's up please come get her and the next night we'll sleep for another hour

Speaker 2 that's so nice i know but it's uh it's it's a scary you know scary endeavor that we're on here natalie you're gonna be paying for that like premium google drive subscription at like age five for her She's gonna have hundreds of emails to read.

Speaker 1 Yeah, like let's not get carried away here. Cause like if she reads like me, she's gonna be like, oh my God.

Speaker 2 I think she would love it.

Speaker 2 If I could go back and read emails that like my grandparents who are no longer with us sent me, or like, my mom's like best friend who was like an aunt to me, but maybe they lost touch.

Speaker 1 I don't know. Honestly, AI will allow it to put it like in our voices so they can just like read it to her.
Oh, that's true. So, like an audiobook.
That'd be cool.

Speaker 5 Natalie, you have to be careful with the attachments because if it fills up like the storage, it'll start deleting or stop accepting.

Speaker 2 Okay, geek squad, Justin.

Speaker 1 Like, what?

Speaker 1 Helpful.

Speaker 1 Just give me pointers for the future.

Speaker 2 Okay, but I feel like they're all going to be lost in the cloud. Like I'm going to be like, oh, I screenshotted this photo of you in your crib at 20 months old.
Let me try to find it. Like, what?

Speaker 2 Now I just send it to her in an email.

Speaker 2 I was like, this is you right when I laid you down in your crib. Second night, no binks.
And I gave her the whole synopsis.

Speaker 4 What was the first email, I assume, from you?

Speaker 2 It was from me. And it was me last night telling her how I took her binky away.
And she's sleeping in her crib without her binky. And I attached a photo because I gave her

Speaker 2 like a little rubber horse, like a little farm animal rubber horse toy, because I felt like she just needed something to either hold or just like put in her mouth.

Speaker 2 And she kind of like chewed on it for a second. And then she fell asleep like holding it.
And so I attached the photo of her holding the horse. That's really cute.
I know.

Speaker 4 Oh, I love this idea. I'm going to do it.
Thank you for the idea.

Speaker 5 Well, Geek Squad Justin has another suggestion for the people that live in LA or a city.

Speaker 2 Any city.

Speaker 5 I don't use chat GPT

Speaker 5 except when I'm parking in LA. And we all know the LA signs.
There's like 10 different like blocks of level.

Speaker 1 None of them make any sense.

Speaker 5 And you go from top to bottom, and every single sign negates the other one.

Speaker 5 So you don't understand it. But what I do now is I screen, like I take a picture of it, and then I message Chat GPT and I go, Can I park here? And it tells you, Yes, or not.

Speaker 2 That is smart. It works.

Speaker 5 It helps you because they ticket you out here and it's expensive.

Speaker 1 Do you use it for other things like that with questions that you have about?

Speaker 5 No, because it's not that serious. Just when it comes to parking, I'm like, this is too much brain power to understand five signs.

Speaker 4 I use it all the time. Whenever like my plant doesn't look so hot, I'll take a picture of it and put it into Chat GPT and be like, What's wrong with my plant?

Speaker 2 Does it usually just respond with like, Need some water?

Speaker 4 No, actually, I had like tiny bugs that didn't look like bugs. They don't look like bugs, they're just like little brown things on the leaves and they don't crawl around.

Speaker 4 And I was like, These are bugs. And I literally took my plant, I put it outside, and I was like, um, and I like scraped off each one.
Um, and I saved, I did save the plant, thanks to

Speaker 4 me.

Speaker 4 that's why i don't do house plants there's you're just like giving things to grow and build a home and i committed to the indoor plant thing before i had a kid and now i'm just like oh my god i have to water these like i have so many and i have to go through it every week and i'm just like oh my god we had

Speaker 1 we had a plant wall

Speaker 1 outside yeah and uh oh yeah you guys

Speaker 2 for like a while and yeah two weeks later i was like fuck this shit we replaced the candles so many things to water and then it became like a bug infestation because everything's like wet and moist and there's bugs flying around like living in the system attracted to mosquitoes it was awful but it also brings you more oxygen in the house well it was outside well nick takes it up anyways

Speaker 3 i love a house plant it really makes me in my in my apartment that i really try with three other roommates to not look like a college dorm room.

Speaker 1 Yeah, the plant just fixes that problem for sure.

Speaker 3 Plants really do like pull a lot of them.

Speaker 2 It elevates.

Speaker 3 Yeah, it does elevate. We do look like we're not in college.

Speaker 1 We do look like we're just in our 20s.

Speaker 6 You look like you can keep something alive.

Speaker 1 I think if you have more than one roommate,

Speaker 1 it's hard not to look like college.

Speaker 3 Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. We're doing our best.

Speaker 1 Hey, listen, it's all you can do, Mary.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Wait, Mary, how was your party?

Speaker 3 Oh, guys, my party rocked. Justin can attest.
Justin was there.

Speaker 2 I saw your costume. Yeah, it was so good.

Speaker 3 Lisa Renna.

Speaker 1 Sexy Lisa Renna. Sexy Lisa Renna.

Speaker 2 Lisa Renna. Was it you and your busty that were Harry Hamlin?

Speaker 1 Harry Hamlin.

Speaker 3 I don't, yeah, I don't have a picture of her as Harry Hamlin, but I will find one eventually.

Speaker 1 But I will. Y'all didn't take one together? A photo together?

Speaker 3 We did. I just, I texted everyone and asked for pictures, and no one has sent them to me yet, which is rude.

Speaker 5 It was a Vile Files reunion, though. Everybody was there.

Speaker 1 Everyone was there. I wasn't there.

Speaker 3 I wasn't there. Leia wasn't there.
Sierra wasn't there. Allison wasn't there.
Derek wasn't there. But everyone else was there.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 1 The team wasn't there.

Speaker 3 But the homies that showed up showed up.

Speaker 1 Oh, my God. Yay.

Speaker 1 Yeah, is that you, Mary? You know, yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 5 I did walk in, I told Mary, I said, put the cleavage away. I'm sorry,

Speaker 1 he did say, put the girls away, put it away.

Speaker 3 So an amazing, but an amazing thing happened to me that I think you guys would find funny.

Speaker 1 I

Speaker 3 so I put on press-on nails, right? So I have my little nails on. I have like my full beat, lashes, everything.
I'm feeling gorgeous,

Speaker 3 okay.

Speaker 3 And I go to open up a topochico seltzer, and I can't because I have nails. And then I was like,

Speaker 3 and then immediately my boy roommate and my roommate's boyfriend were both like, oh, we can get that for you.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 3 See? And I was like,

Speaker 1 this is what the power is like.

Speaker 3 For all the people out there that don't think I'm a real girl, I was the other night.

Speaker 1 It is wrong.

Speaker 2 Give her some nails and some cleavage, and she's a real girl.

Speaker 1 Well, speaking of real girl, we have Brittany Bateman on this week for an amazing episode of Going Deeper. For all you housewife fans out there, this is an episode you do not want to miss.

Speaker 1 It was really good. Really is good.

Speaker 4 Even if you're not a housewife fan.

Speaker 1 I mean, it's a great episode. She's incredible.
She's a fascinating woman, and

Speaker 1 we really get behind the curtain of who is Brittany Bateman. And it is enjoyable.
Couple new shows before we get to our guest, Sean Johnson and Andrew East.

Speaker 1 I know we're going to obviously talk about Real Housewives of OC later this episode, but Housewife Swap, whatever.

Speaker 1 Housewife, wife swap. The wife swap, housewives edition.
I love it. I love it.
It's so good. It's so good.
It's so good. It's awesome.
I cheered up. It's great.

Speaker 1 Angie Cantoneva was our premiere housewife.

Speaker 2 And what honestly, what better woman to open up? I know it was supposed to be Wendy at first, but like Angie really just

Speaker 1 went, you know?

Speaker 1 That was crazy.

Speaker 2 That was crazy.

Speaker 1 She's cutting the fish. We'll get into that later.
Also, Married at First Sight is out streaming on Peacock, and I took a peek.

Speaker 1 And if you thought Love is Blind was wild, these people are getting literally married. I have questions.
I mean, the history of the show, they have 11 successful couples still together. 13 babies.

Speaker 1 13 babies? That's a better track record than The Bachelor.

Speaker 2 Well, it does say 19 seasons.

Speaker 1 I don't care. Bachelor has 19 seasons,

Speaker 1 more than 19 seasons. I mean, you combine The Bacherette and The Bachelor.
They're going on 40-plus seasons.

Speaker 3 Yeah, it's like the voice of reality TV. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I'm just saying five couples per season.

Speaker 1 I don't give a fuck.

Speaker 2 Okay, Sarah.

Speaker 1 Okay, why are you knocking it down? I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 Sarah, they're getting married.

Speaker 1 It's just such a crazy concept.

Speaker 2 We're seeing each other.

Speaker 1 They know each other for five years. Here's my vows.

Speaker 2 By the way, my name is Natalie. I just feel, it's hard for me.

Speaker 1 This one's hard for me. I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 They're set up by

Speaker 3 what are the match, professional matchmakers?

Speaker 1 Professional matchmakers? No, they have like a psychologist, a marriage counselor,

Speaker 1 you know, like some real, some real smarty pants.

Speaker 3 Yeah, I think that's what other reality. I was like, oh, it's crazy that I did.
I have a hard time suspending my disbelief for these kinds of shows.

Speaker 3 But Married at First Sight, once they were like, yeah, we're professional matchmakers and we take this really seriously and we want them to succeed. I'm like, oh, sold.

Speaker 1 Anyways, we got some fun stuff to get into, including some of the men who will allegedly be fighting for the heart of our queen, Taylor Frankie Paul.

Speaker 1 But first, we have Sean Johnson, Olympic gold medalist, and her husband, Andrew East, who are competing on special forces this season, and they are up next.

Speaker 1 As the holidays roll in, I am all about the comfort foods, the rolls, the stuffing, all of it, but I still want to feel good about what I'm eating. And that's why I love Hero Bread.

Speaker 1 They're better for you, breads. Let you enjoy all your favorites.
Guilt-free. I love the ingredients that all the breads at Hero Bread are made with.

Speaker 1 And as someone who has been more conscious about what I'm eating this year, Hero Bread is where it's at.

Speaker 1 Whether it's the garlic dinner rolls with the Hero Hawaiian rolls or a lazy weekend brunch with their 10 gram protein croissants, it tastes indulgent without any of the guilt.

Speaker 1 River absolutely loves a croissant. She's a croissant girly.
And we always feel good giving River the Hero Bread croissants because they're made with quality. We're a taco family.

Speaker 1 We have tacos probably twice a week, at least once a week. And the hero bread tortillas are an essential at our house.

Speaker 1 No compromises, just flavor, zero to five grams of net carbs, zero grams of sugar, which I absolutely love, and it's high in fiber.

Speaker 1 All of your favorite recipes are covered with Hero Bread sliced bread, loaves, tortillas, bagels, and dinner rolls.

Speaker 1 Small batch drops of indulgent favorites like their popular two-gram net carb hero croissants and five-gram net carb hero noodles.

Speaker 1 Perfect for gifting those health-conscious loved ones who still love good food. Hero Bread is offering 10% off your order.
Go to hero.co and use code V-I-A-L-L at checkout.

Speaker 1 That is V-I-A-L-L at hero.co.

Speaker 1 That's H-E-R-O.co.

Speaker 2 As the weather cools, I'm swapping in the pieces that actually get the job done. Warm, durable, and built to last.

Speaker 2 And Quince delivers every time with wardrobe staples that'll carry you through the season.

Speaker 2 Quince has the kind of false staples you'll actually want to wear on repeat, like 100% Mongolian cashmere from just $60. A classic fit denim and real leather and wool.

Speaker 2 outerwear that looks sharp and holds up.

Speaker 1 I just got their suede trucker jacket. It's perfect for layering and looks great and it looks real casual, but also put together.

Speaker 2 And by Nick getting the suede trucker jacket, that means I also got the suede trucker jacket because we share everything. Quince partners directly with Ethical Factories and top artisans.

Speaker 2 So Quince cuts out the middleman to deliver premium quality at half the cost of similar brands. And they don't just have amazing, perfect clothes that will last you a lifetime.

Speaker 2 They also have really great luggage and bedding and towels and anything you could ever imagine. Quince has it, and it is top quality and something you'll want to keep forever.

Now available in Canada too.

Speaker 2 That's q-u-i-n-ce-e.com slash v-i-a-l-l free shipping and 365 day returns, quince.com slash v-i-a-l-l.

Speaker 2 Sleep and nap routines feel impossible to figure out in the early months, but with Nana, they don't have to be.

Speaker 2 Nana does the heavy lifting for you, tracking sleep patterns and milestones so you can stop guessing and start resting. Because when your baby sleeps better, you do too.

Speaker 1 Nana is the number one most awarded smart baby monitor trusted by parents and experts it's the baby monitor parents can't stop talking about one of our favorite baby products it really makes us feel more connected to our daughter it just makes us gives us the peace of mind that all parents are striving for recently we tried to decrease the amount of time that river is using a pacifier which obviously affects her sleep so it allows us to monitor her sleep a little easier rather than having to go up to her room and check on her.

Speaker 2 It's like having a second pair of eyes that never gets tired.

Speaker 1 Their camera is amazing. You can make sure every parent knows that you always get a little nervous.
You want to check in on their breathing. Their nanit monitor allows you to do that.

Speaker 1 I listen to River Nap when I'm on my runs. For all you traveling parents out there that want to stay connected to your child, the Nanit is a great way to do that.
It's so many amazing benefits.

Speaker 1 And every parent out there should check out the Nanit.

Speaker 2 It also has crystal clear video and two-way audio, so you can see and hear your baby from anywhere, anytime.

Speaker 2 They provide parents with personalized insights and smart notifications to understand their baby's development and needs like never before, like telling you exactly how long your baby slept for and predicting when their next nap should be.

Speaker 1 Sean, Andrew, welcome to the show.

Speaker 6 Thanks for having you.

Speaker 1 I'm so excited for this. I'm so excited.
Yeah. We've known each other.
I've known you, what, seven years now? Has it been that long? Bohemian Rhapsody. That's, oh my God.
I forgot about that.

Speaker 6 Yeah. Where you rode the bus all around L.A.

Speaker 1 I do remember that. And I use the tomb no very loosely.
Okay.

Speaker 1 Use that term loosely. But we found ourselves in West Hollywood at like this.
queen concert.

Speaker 1 Yeah, it was like some kind of act like social media brand deal in my solo days because this, you know, this is when there were a lot of days where I was like, what's the point? Yeah.

Speaker 1 I was just,

Speaker 1 I gotta stop showing, like, it was weird, like, being the former bachelor, and I felt like I had two choices.

Speaker 1 Yeah, just look like a dirty whore showing up with a new girl every event, you know, because I wasn't in any committed relationship, or just look desperately alone.

Speaker 1 And I chose the latter. Yep.
Um,

Speaker 1 so yeah. And then my dodgy did, honestly.
And then my introverted, awkward self, you know, I'd go to these events and I'd just be like, oh, God, here we go. Yeah, if I remember meeting you there.

Speaker 1 Yeah. Yeah.
I forgot about that. Yeah.
And then

Speaker 1 here we are.

Speaker 2 He told me that you invited him to work out.

Speaker 2 And he was going to say no. And then we started watching our friend Victoria Fuller was over.
And she was like, I didn't know you were in Dancing with the Stars.

Speaker 2 So we pulled up his little quick every dance. And he was in amazing shape.
And we were like, what the hell? Like, go tell Andrew. Never mind.
I'm on my way.

Speaker 1 And then I was like,

Speaker 1 I'm going to show you more.

Speaker 1 I went back and went back to the old Instagram. And it really was like a, fuck, I really need to get back.
I'm really like.

Speaker 6 Wait, what season were you on?

Speaker 1 17. 2017.
Who's your partner? Peter Murgatroy.

Speaker 1 Oh, wow. Rashad Jennings won.
The opposite of Tylen Harding. Oh, Nancy.
Nancy Jerry. She was on my season.
We got eliminated together. She was a sweetheart.
Who else was on?

Speaker 2 They eliminated two at the same time.

Speaker 1 It was a double elimination that week. Wow.

Speaker 1 Were you on it? Yeah. Yeah.
Did you win? Yeah.

Speaker 1 Yeah. And then I did an all-star season, and she was on that.

Speaker 1 They've They've done an all-star season? Yeah. Did you win that?

Speaker 6 I should have.

Speaker 1 I came in second, which I think was trash.

Speaker 2 Is there anything you do that you don't win?

Speaker 1 Yeah, really. How many gold medals do you have?

Speaker 6 Just one.

Speaker 1 So pretty good.

Speaker 6 I have four medals, just one gold.

Speaker 1 Where is it?

Speaker 6 Framed. In a safe somewhere.

Speaker 1 I have it with us right now.

Speaker 2 You don't have like displays.

Speaker 1 I wish it dropped me.

Speaker 1 He's like, I brought it.

Speaker 1 I can tell you're super competitive. Yeah, very.
Like, I can just feel it in the room. So is he.
That's why we've got to go. I imagine so, but like, I feel like your wins are competitive.

Speaker 1 Or do you kind of take a step back? I love this part of the conversation where it's like Sean's accolades and then transition to patronizing Andrew. I'm like, oh, poor guy.

Speaker 1 What the treat off you?

Speaker 1 Okay. Yeah.

Speaker 1 I am, I love competition. Sean, though, will like cut your throat and she will win.
I'm like, I'm here for a good time. I'm just like the vibe.
Yeah, Sean looks like she doesn't fuck her.

Speaker 1 She gives a look. Yeah.

Speaker 1 Yeah. I know.
It's a little scary. It's time to get married.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Wait, so when you knew y'all were going on special forces together, was it like, babe, we're going to do this together?

Speaker 1 Or were you like, I'll fucking win?

Speaker 1 At any point where you're like, don't be a pussy.

Speaker 1 Honestly, I take this for granted. I never have to say that to Sean.
She never backs down from a situation. So like.

Speaker 1 Honestly, we find ourselves in some ridiculous places because she's always down, which puts us in some pinches.

Speaker 6 But we've done some things that we've probably regretted. A lot of opportunities come our way where they're like, You guys just don't say no.

Speaker 6 So, why not throw you out of a plane, put you in some car, going off a cliff? And it's like, this kind of sucks, but it's fun.

Speaker 1 We'll do it. We found ourselves at Fort Bragg, which is like an army base, doing a shooting competition.
They give us like these huge, like the world's best snipers. Yeah, like these huge weapons.

Speaker 2 I was like, and I won.

Speaker 1 No, no, she won. She tried.

Speaker 6 No, she actually won.

Speaker 1 But in this competition, real guns, real bullets. She trips and falls, throws like a nine-millimeter pistol somewhere.
I'm like, oh my gosh, this is so sketchy, but we're going to keep going.

Speaker 1 So she picks it up and keeps ripping. But I survived.
No, there was no leading up to the show, it was not that much fun because Sean entered training mode, which I had never seen in my life before.

Speaker 1 And I totally understood from that point forward why she is one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. And my football career was not that impressive.

Speaker 1 It's like her intensity and focus was like, oh my gosh, this is crazy.

Speaker 2 How much time did you have to prep?

Speaker 6 Like five weeks.

Speaker 1 Oh, so like a decent amount.

Speaker 6 They've asked us every season, and I've either been pregnant or postpartum. So I really wanted to the show, but never had the option.
Every time they came to me, I was like, there's no chance.

Speaker 1 Was it always an option for the two of you to do it together? No, I was like the bargaining chip. They wanted Sean so bad.
They're like, all right, well, what if we let Andrew do it too?

Speaker 6 Self-devin's Andrew.

Speaker 1 Let's go.

Speaker 1 How'd you guys meet?

Speaker 6 I met his oldest brother at the Olympics. He's an Olympic cyclist.

Speaker 6 And he set us up on a blind date.

Speaker 6 I was getting ready to go to Stanford at the time. I kept deferring, couldn't like pull the trigger for some reason.
And then met him or his oldest brother.

Speaker 6 And he's like, you should go to Vanderbilt or my son. Or geez, I can't form words.

Speaker 6 You should go to Vanderbilt where my brother goes. And he set us up on a blind date.
You gave me a tour of Vandy and I was like, okay.

Speaker 1 Wait, so you picked him over Stanford? I did. No, no, no, no Vanderbilt and me, which is.

Speaker 6 I mean, I only went to Vanderbilt because of you.

Speaker 1 I literally dropped out with him the first couple of months. That's kind of a flex.

Speaker 1 Sanford's pretty good school. Yeah, it's decent.

Speaker 1 Danny's better, though. Danny, regrets? No.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 Not at all.

Speaker 1 So, Special Forces, was it everything you expected it would be? I mean, obviously, it's someone who's been in that environment. What was the most shocking or difficult thing?

Speaker 1 Because, like, physically, you guys, your specimens. this guy, you know, shake his hand.
And I'm like, ow.

Speaker 1 You saying that with the in him eye contact we're making right now? It's like, I don't know what that is. I don't know what to think right now.

Speaker 1 I'm just like, honestly, after watching Dancing with the Stars the other night, I'm really in my feels about like not, like, I've been in shape my whole life, you know. I've, um,

Speaker 1 you know, it really got, it's really bad when your wife sends you shirtless pictures of Dylan Efron.

Speaker 2 I just like, it accidentally,

Speaker 6 like, isn't he like 20?

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 He's a kid. He's younger.
He's a kid. Also, welcome to like parenting.

Speaker 6 It just changes.

Speaker 1 But in fairness to Natalie, you know, as soon as we got together, I was like, yeah, I don't, I mean, I don't, I don't work as hard. You feel like you let yourself go a little bit.
A little bit.

Speaker 6 That's amazing. That's like also the greatest form of flattery to a certain extent because you're that comfortable.

Speaker 1 Dylan is 33

Speaker 1 according to the household.

Speaker 2 So he's not a child. Also, Nick responds very well to shame.
I do. So he's, I think, ingrained that into me to shame him.

Speaker 1 Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 6 Join Saturdays.

Speaker 1 Datter Days. That's what we call it.
Yeah.

Speaker 6 You'll be humbled very quickly.

Speaker 1 I have no doubt.

Speaker 6 Andrew comes home every Saturday after the Saturdays workout, and he's like, I almost died. I'm like, if you're saying that, who puts together the workouts?

Speaker 1 Navy SEALs and Army Rangers. So it's a group of like elite athletes.
How old are they?

Speaker 1 I'm 45, bro. Yeah.

Speaker 1 Some are older. There's a lot of 40-year-olds.

Speaker 6 But they're all like Army Rangers.

Speaker 1 He said, no excuses. No excuses.
No excuses. I did a few push-ups Saturday morning, and I'm hurting.

Speaker 1 What's a few? How many?

Speaker 2 10.

Speaker 1 I did like a 20-minute workout where I was doing some cut-off bells and some push-ups and some, you know, running in place and some shadow boxing.

Speaker 1 I'm not going to lie. We pulled up and we saw dumbbells on the back porch.
I was like, this guy gets after it. It's raining outside.

Speaker 1 That wasn't this morning.

Speaker 1 That was me working out inside every 20 minutes and then not putting shit away.

Speaker 1 Okay. All right.

Speaker 2 Wait, Special Forces.

Speaker 1 Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 6 Every single person we asked about the show, they said it's way harder than it even shows on TV. Yeah.
And every time we heard that, we would look at each other and be like,

Speaker 6 they just, you know, they can't hate.

Speaker 1 You're like pussies.

Speaker 6 And then we show up and it was like, oh, yeah. It's actually harder than

Speaker 1 we thought. Going into it, there was like zero chance I'm tapping out of this thing.
And then at the end of day one, my body was shutting down and I thought I had heat exhaustion.

Speaker 6 Well, they didn't give you water for 24 hours.

Speaker 1 Yeah, we're in the 120-degree heat, no water for like seven hours, which was actually like a mistake on the show's part. And I was like, yeah, because that's kind of a danger zone.
It was.

Speaker 1 We should have water.

Speaker 1 But I was like, I think I'm going to have to leave day one just because physically I was not in a good spot. It was a wild ride.
Did you tell her that?

Speaker 6 Oh, I could tell. Yeah.

Speaker 6 They separated us immediately and put us on two separate teams so we didn't see each other all day and

Speaker 6 all that first whole day we were like out on the mountaintop doing stuff i don't know and at the end of the day we saw each other for the first time and i i could tell immediately it's like oh oh he's he's done like he's done you had the black circles under your eyes you were like

Speaker 6 in really bad shape.

Speaker 2 Did you have a conversation that night to like keep him there?

Speaker 6 I just went into like wife slash mom mode.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 6 I was like, who has electrolytes? We need water.

Speaker 1 Yeah. She was nursing me back.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 But that was my first experience on reality TV. And I was like, this is not that cool, dude.
Freaking, this sucks. Who does this?

Speaker 1 That's not even reality. It's not even really reality TV.
And a credit to the show because it's more like you don't engage with producers. You're not like doing like in-the-moment conversations.

Speaker 1 It's just a simulation with cameras around. Yeah.
Yeah. So it's hardly, you really haven't done reality TV yet.
Yeah. Yes.
No. Dude, being mic'd up all the time.
I don't know about that.

Speaker 1 How was your first night of sleep? Because ours was wild. We slept pretty good.
Really? You didn't have any snores? No. Actually, in those cots,

Speaker 1 every time anyone fucking moved, it's just like this.

Speaker 1 Dude, our door, it was like a metal cable they had looped through just a piece of wood. And so every time it would open up, it would be

Speaker 1 super loud. So anyone that would go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you'd just wake right up.

Speaker 6 I don't know if if it's just like the phase of life you and I are in with like a five, four, and one-year-old, but I really can't complain about sleep. I felt like I slept great.

Speaker 6 I was doing really well.

Speaker 1 You're like, there was no baby kicking me in the legs. No monitors.
No monitors to watch. That's true.

Speaker 1 I thought we did well with sleep.

Speaker 6 Yeah. We also were known.
People were talking to us later.

Speaker 6 about how any downtime we had, whether it was going to be a minute or like four hours, you never knew, we literally would just fall asleep and nap.

Speaker 1 Yeah. The whole, the whole time.
I actually think it's my best quality I have is I can sleep anywhere. Yeah.
A little ecolepsy or? Fall asleep? I don't think so. It's just

Speaker 1 talking. Two minutes.

Speaker 1 Oh, yeah. Yeah.
You don't look like a stressful person. Do you just not have anxiety? Are you just one of those like light as a feather, you know, just carefree?

Speaker 6 I actually think you're, you're shockingly.

Speaker 6 and amazingly carefree.

Speaker 1 Yeah. He does feel stressed.
He gets stressed out. Yeah, I mean, I haven't spent that much time with you, but but

Speaker 1 you're a delight. So be around.
Actually, this is like a core philosophy of my life.

Speaker 1 You know, when you go to the airport and you got people yelling at like the poor people behind the counter, like, I'm not going to miss my fight. And they're like getting all mad about something.

Speaker 1 And this lady has no control over this airline schedule. I'm like, don't get mad over stuff that you can't, that you have no control over.
So I agree with you 99% of the time.

Speaker 1 Every once in a while, there is someone behind that counter who just wants to make your day miserable.

Speaker 2 For example, we were flying from

Speaker 2 I don't I don't know where we were going anyways. We were flying and we had our daughter River with us and she was maybe a little bit over a year old and at this point we've still lap 30 times.

Speaker 1 Yeah. So like we're familiar with the process.
Oh, yeah. Still lap child, whatever.

Speaker 2 And we're like, we just want to make sure like our daughter's on our ticket, whatever. And she's like, okay, do you have her birth certificate or her shot records?

Speaker 6 Which you don't need.

Speaker 1 And we're like, what? Like, why?

Speaker 2 And she was like, we need to see those uh before she gets

Speaker 1 i'm like i don't a photo of her birthday like immediately we know she's just making things yeah and then she's like do you have a photo of her like in the hospital i'm like do you want to see the video of me like giving birth like are you just like making sure that she's our kid or like what's going on no she literally asked for like a photo of a photo of her giving birth and we're like i don't And I didn't want to argue with her, you know, because we just want to get on our flight.

Speaker 1 So literally, we showed this woman like hospital videos of Natalie giving birth to her daughter. That's crazy.
And then she was like, well, you never can be too careful.

Speaker 1 Like afterwards, like she knew she was just making shit up. She's like, because like people could, you know, she definitely watched some kind of like kidnapping

Speaker 1 video online. Were you pissy in this interaction? Because this is something Sean, Sean and I have done a lot of work on.
I will get like,

Speaker 1 I will, I will huff and I, my Uber rating is pretty good at this point. I had to do some damage control because like I didn't know there was an Uber rating.

Speaker 1 And then someone's like, what's your Uber rating?

Speaker 1 And I looked and I was like it was like a 4-4 at some point which is pretty low and I was like why I mean I'm like I've never like such a delight no I've never gotten into it I've never like but you know when they would make a wrong turn or I was like going a little late I'm in the back going

Speaker 1 Andrew's always like just don't talk my thought is just keep your mouth shut in this situation where you have this lady behind the desk who asks something crazy is it the better strategy to double down and inject like intense negative emotional

Speaker 1 or is it like, oh, I'm so sorry. I forgot.
No,

Speaker 1 it's not. To take a selfie at the hospital.
Like you make us, I think it's better to just go the

Speaker 1 hundred percent right, but like most

Speaker 1 people.

Speaker 6 I get so fiery. Andrew has this quality, and I don't know, I don't know how, but it every interaction like that, where normally you would get like super pissed off, he sees it as such a challenge.

Speaker 6 And he will become people's best friends.

Speaker 1 That's a great.

Speaker 6 And then all of a sudden he's got their cell phone number and he's getting free points on Delta or what, because like you're that guy.

Speaker 1 That's an amazing skill. It was actually, I think on our flight to Morocco where we filmed the show.
We were, bro, we were about to miss our flight to go to New York and then. to Morocco from there.

Speaker 6 We weren't going to make it on time for the course to start.

Speaker 1 And Sean is stressed, like not in a good spot. she's like yelling at people like

Speaker 1 can we can we not get on a different flight look at this and there's just this guy who's like just try to help us and i was like hey man wait just trying to help

Speaker 1 yeah this is how he is

Speaker 1 like have you done a call map reading i would listen

Speaker 1 we actually know we did uh

Speaker 1 yeah yeah and it's a meditation it was actually awesome it's like welcome back to tonight's meditation anyway i would listen you were

Speaker 1 it's like you get to know someone's name i actually think one of life's greatest adventures is to like meet a stranger and then you're like, how are we going to vibe?

Speaker 1 Is there any overlap between coming from an introvert?

Speaker 6 That sounds awful.

Speaker 1 Anyway, I'm realizing me and Sean are very much alike.

Speaker 1 Who's more introverted or extroverted if you're not? I'm way too introverted. Yeah.

Speaker 1 You're pretty chatty though. I can be.
I'm like, I'm an ambiovert

Speaker 1 if you want to get technical. I've never heard that term.

Speaker 1 Mel, introvert, extrovert.

Speaker 1 Ambient extroverts.

Speaker 1 I think Susan Kane, the most world-renowned expert in extroverts, introverts, we had her on a show a long time ago.

Speaker 1 And half the population is extroverts, half the population is introvert, but it's really a spectrum. You know, you don't like there's extremes.

Speaker 1 Like most people, like, you know, you may be, you say you're introverted, but like

Speaker 1 there are people obviously way more introverted who can't get out of the house.

Speaker 6 And like, you know, he likes to claim he's an introvert. I'm like, huh, Nick.

Speaker 1 Well, we all can be at times.

Speaker 1 I'm getting advice from Nick about this. Don't interrupt.
Okay.

Speaker 1 But like, he fills up his tank probably by like challenging himself to become people's best friends. And that just sucks the life out of me.
He's like, I can do it.

Speaker 1 I can show up and be like, here we go. Be charming, Nick.
Be charming. Be charming, Nick.
So after we're going to go somewhere, I'll be like, Nick, I'm going to challenge you to overdo it.

Speaker 1 And he'll be like, all right. So you're an introvert.

Speaker 1 The short version is be nice. Yeah.

Speaker 1 We got to meet your wonderful daughter. And the welcoming that we got from her was amazing.

Speaker 6 I don't know if you have like cameras outside. It sounds weird to say, but like, she came sprinting.

Speaker 1 Oh, I was like,

Speaker 1 Sister me, she's fast, right?

Speaker 2 She's fast, yeah. Yeah, no, she is the biggest extrovert, and it's crazy because we went to dinner last night and she like tried to hug the manager.

Speaker 2 And then we were on our way out, and some woman was like, Oh, hi, baby. And then she was like trying to hug her.
And I'm like, Okay, sometimes we like can't just hug everybody.

Speaker 1 Don't do that, that guy's disgusting.

Speaker 1 He's like, He wanted to sit in the door seat on time.

Speaker 1 Yeah, true. No, that's a great quality though and and you're absolutely right you definitely attract more what more more bees with honey than vinegar

Speaker 1 wow wow

Speaker 1 i didn't make that up that's an old saying no you just made it up this is yeah i heard the phrase positive boomerang growing up a lot where it's like you know boomerangs whatever you throw out it'll come back to you and if you throw positive boomerangs you'll get positive that's scary sometimes for people like nicknames yeah but i do find like

Speaker 1 natalie and i i mean i'm sure you guys could have have this happen too but when you can tell your partner is,

Speaker 1 you know, even when Natalie's just like, wants to kill someone, I'm like, all right, let's big picture. All right, here we go.
You know, it's like, and it's

Speaker 1 balance it out, right?

Speaker 2 Sometimes I'm like,

Speaker 1 come on. Yeah.
Natalie's got some real moments.

Speaker 1 She'll want to fight people. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 It's recently become to solicitors and solicitors only. You know, I've been real, like, we have a no-soliciting sign.

Speaker 1 Wow.

Speaker 2 And they just, Nick's like, I was in sales. Listen, listen, you don't, that's just like a you don't even look at that.

Speaker 1 That's a challenge,

Speaker 1 yeah. It's like, I'll get them to buy what I'm selling, and I'll be like, You just woke up, my baby, and the dogs are barking, and yeah, yeah, yeah, have you ever been? The mama bear stuff comes out.

Speaker 1 Have you ever been a Karen? Oh, yeah,

Speaker 1 uh, yeah,

Speaker 1 I can't say it is funny how

Speaker 6 one comes to mind. I'll tell you off the off the show.

Speaker 1 It's funny how you get older, and then all of a sudden, you're like, that person's driving too fast in our neighborhood. So,

Speaker 1 you put up a sign, and it's like, what is happening?

Speaker 1 What happened?

Speaker 2 Are y'all's kids introverts? Extroverts? Have you been able to tell?

Speaker 6 A mix, really. Big mix.
Our daughter is very much like me, very introverted. But it's funny because if she gets comfortable enough, her like crazy side comes out, which is so much fun.

Speaker 6 And then our first son is a carbon copy of Andrew. He is,

Speaker 6 knows no stranger.

Speaker 6 just loves life to the fullest.

Speaker 1 We had friends over on Saturday. And first thing Jet said, our four-year-old, to this new person he just met was, Hey, do you want to play tackle? So this guy's like, Sure.

Speaker 1 So he gets football helmets out, but he's literally just tackling this guy. It's like hilarious.

Speaker 6 He's the kid that like wakes up at 5 a.m. He'll be right by your face.

Speaker 6 And we'll say to Andrew, he's like, Daddy, let's go work out.

Speaker 1 Let's do it.

Speaker 6 And he's like, boy, go to sleep.

Speaker 1 That's kind of awesome, though. Yeah,

Speaker 1 that's the dream.

Speaker 6 It is. And then our third is definitely like a mix.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 6 He's got his like skepticism, but like loves life. He's a mix of both.

Speaker 2 Y'all travel a lot with your kids. We do.
What is kind of y'all's like hack to travel? Because we travel a lot with River. Obviously, it's easy.
You're with one.

Speaker 2 You have three.

Speaker 1 What are y'all? What are y'all?

Speaker 2 No hack.

Speaker 6 It's exactly what you guys are doing. Just

Speaker 6 introduce them to it. Doing it.
We traveled with all of our kids from a very early age. I'd say like two months old.

Speaker 1 Yeah. Not even.

Speaker 6 And they just got used to it. They're very comfortable on planes.

Speaker 6 It doesn't make it easier. Yeah.

Speaker 1 We're strict no technology on traveling couple though wow i'm kidding i'm kidding i'm kidding

Speaker 2 we honestly are

Speaker 1 way too much

Speaker 1 we're pretty good we're pretty good like we definitely are we are no but every

Speaker 1 parents than us

Speaker 1 no no no no no

Speaker 6 i would say we are we are light on technology at home but the second we're making a 16-hour flight across the world i'm like the ipad is yeah gold have it for 16 hours and not your kids eyes are just toasted

Speaker 1 by the end of it. They're like, I've watched 20 hours of screen time.

Speaker 2 So do you do like you sit in an aisle with two, you sit with one? Like, do y'all have like a system or does it change?

Speaker 6 I will say a hack we have figured out with three because we're an odd number

Speaker 6 is we always buy an extra seat in economy. So we do two full rows of three.

Speaker 6 We have gone the route of doing first class with with all five of us. And usually all the kids end up in the two first class seats that we're sitting in.

Speaker 6 And then you have like three empty first class seats that you just sought off an arm for.

Speaker 6 So we do majority economy. Even flying to Japan, we were like last row on

Speaker 6 a 16-hour flight.

Speaker 1 I might regret that one. But I'm excited because I feel like two was a pivot point for us.
The kids get so much easier at that point. Like just

Speaker 1 understanding their ability to have like some attention span yeah so usually be like two of our two oldest with sean and then me with the with the baby because the baby's baby's harder than the two older combined pretty much so like a parent will take the two older and a parent will take the baby and it's like and then we'll switch equal i realize why they call it the terrible twos it's not because they're actually terrible but like rivers at that age where she's she's old enough to want things and she's old enough to like have opinions and like a you know and a point of view a little bit but not quite old enough to communicate and fully understand.

Speaker 1 So it's a little bit of like

Speaker 6 even like sitting in an airplane seat and like having a seatbelt on.

Speaker 1 Oh, yeah.

Speaker 6 They're like, never. No.
And then the stewardesses are yelling at you because your two-year-old won't stay. I'm like, I don't know what to do here.

Speaker 1 Two is hard.

Speaker 2 Two is tough. But she,

Speaker 2 we were just talking about this at the top of the episode, but we just took her pacifier away this weekend.

Speaker 6 How's it going?

Speaker 1 Pretty good.

Speaker 2 Yeah. The night since

Speaker 1 it's the night.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 And she's just like, up, dad, dad, up, dad, da.

Speaker 2 she calls movies we've we've like meow meows because we started her on like aristocats and the one dalmatian so everything's meow meow to be like dad da meow meow meow meow up dad da meow meow and it's like 4 a.m he's like please go irritatingly cute but dude

Speaker 1 so cliche but enjoy that while it lasts dude it will be over in no matter of months and then you're like frank remember when little river was saying up daddy and then it's like dude i was literally crying on the way here there's a song he was a disaster this morning yeah what song

Speaker 1 don't listen to it it's a good song as a parent don't listen to it she's totally right natalie loves to

Speaker 6 sit and feels like that

Speaker 1 when it comes to river i just made her an email address and i wrote her email last week let's freaking go

Speaker 1 i'm only doing one on her birthday yeah what i send like i can't she yeah i can't read that much he sends like five a day i'll do like i'll just do like little one sentence ones like um like bear said our youngest said his first prayer the other day, and he said, He said, Thank you for bulldozers and excavators.

Speaker 1 And it's like, Amen. I'll send an email.
I mean, it wasn't that eloquent.

Speaker 6 It was bulldozer, excavator, amen.

Speaker 1 We're like, all righty, but it's like, that's the stuff that you think you'll remember forever. Then, fast forward a week, you forget.
So, I'm a, I'm a pro-email.

Speaker 2 Oh, it's so sweet.

Speaker 1 So, back to special force. Yeah.

Speaker 1 Either of you picky eaters.

Speaker 6 He is a lot pickier than I am.

Speaker 1 That's what I found out. Did you really? Because that was the hardest part for me.
I didn't realize

Speaker 1 that part of the course was the food and then they feed you less. Bro, first of all, I don't think you have to be a piggy eater to not enjoy that.
No, it's garbage food. It wasn't that bad.

Speaker 1 It was rash, dude. And I lost 17 pounds.
It's just

Speaker 1 it is terrible. I'm going to stop.

Speaker 6 I told him he got used to be fed filet mignon in the NFL.

Speaker 6 That was literally what we were fed in the National Team Trading Center for Gymnastics.

Speaker 1 I mean, we're talking the most decrepit bruised fruit. So bad that you don't even want to eat it.
And then you have oatmeal that's like not even cooked right. You're like, how do you mess this up? No.

Speaker 1 Carrot soup. I'm like, what is this? Hard-boiled eggs, which was great.
I heard you guys had hard-boiled eggs, and I was pissed because I was killed for hard-boiled eggs. I loved hard-boiled eggs.

Speaker 1 We had runny,

Speaker 1 fake eggs. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 And I was like, I can't. Do you eat scrambled eggs?

Speaker 1 And it was like soft scrambled,

Speaker 1 which was definitely not. Like soupy.
Yeah. I was like, I can't.
No. And it's probably powdered eggs.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 6 Hard-boiled eggs was my jam.

Speaker 1 There was one breakfast I almost like threw up because I just, it was like, I can't say. And then Tom Sandoval is just like scarfing it down just a human garbage disfalls.

Speaker 1 And they give you salt, which is like the one beacon of hope. And you're like, this gives it a little bit of flavor, but it's still terrible.
There was one meal.

Speaker 1 They made us like this really delicious rotisserie chicken. What? Yeah.
But then two minutes into the meal starting, they were like,

Speaker 1 and I was like, no.

Speaker 1 Oh, that's so brutal. It was brutal.

Speaker 1 So brutal. Okay, so we, this is, I unbelievable we fell for this.
This is just aired on the previous episode of.

Speaker 6 They watched it.

Speaker 1 It was trash. Nick Young, the whole time he was there, was complaining about the food, said, all I want is a Coke.
Give me a Coke. So he leaves.
And two hours later,

Speaker 1 there goes a box with a Coke in it. And we thought.
This was a gift from the DS. Like, oh my gosh, this was a morale booster.

Speaker 1 Yes.

Speaker 1 And then so we all crushed it. Dude, there's candy in there.

Speaker 1 We're going ham and then it turns out like oh surprise surprise we weren't supposed to eat it yeah and you're like how do we fall for this this is literally like in the horror movie when they go to the shed with all we had the worst beasting

Speaker 6 after that

Speaker 6 at like 2 a.m and we knew it was coming you had you had an eclectic group

Speaker 1 do you keep in touch with everybody we actually do

Speaker 1 He keeps in touch with everybody.

Speaker 2 Are you, did you get close with Cody?

Speaker 1 We had some very fascinating theological discussions. I I was going to say, who talks more? You or Cody? Oh, hold on.

Speaker 1 It was so interesting because you meet this guy. You're like, all right, he has multiple wives, right?

Speaker 1 How do you get to that point in life? And then, so we would talk for hours about like his understanding of the Bible and then his upbringing.

Speaker 1 And then it's like, it's really fascinating to start to get a picture of like how you end up with multiple wives.

Speaker 6 So let's give you some background on Andrew. He studies religion.
He has a doctorate in psychology.

Speaker 1 okay he literally just wants to know everybody's in and out thought we he wants to get inside the rank i love psychology we could probably go deep one of these days yeah i would love that no it's just i actually um you're gonna building a certain amount of empathy for people you know and and understanding uh but it was you know we would we'd hit these kind of

Speaker 1 forks in the road where he was like, I was so proud of the work that he did. I guess he helped to legalize polygamy in Arizona or maybe even beyond that.
He helped

Speaker 1 legalize it. Legalize it.
Make it legal. Yeah, yeah.
He made it legal.

Speaker 1 And then it's like, you know, it gets to this point where you're like, well, is this, is it good to have everything legal like this or not?

Speaker 1 And then, you know, that's just kind of a difference in how you see things, but

Speaker 1 fascinating conversations all around. And we did this whole take on, you know, once they announce a cast, there's a lot of people with a lot of strong opinions on certain people.

Speaker 1 And you're like, hey, no matter what, everyone has redemptive qualities. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 Like, despite whatever controversies or mistakes they've made, everyone has a chance to say, wow, we can all do this together.

Speaker 1 And like, if you lose that hope that everyone has positive qualities about it, like, that's a sad life. So it was, it was interesting.
Some people were like, no, there's no redemptive qualities.

Speaker 1 You're like, don't judge me like that, please, because I will make mistakes. And if you're.
You're absolutely right. Yeah.
I mean, that's. Thomas Sandoval was on my season right after Scandoval.

Speaker 1 And, you know, he's definitely imperfect. Yeah.
He's made mistakes, but he's not, he's, he has redeeming qualities. Yeah.

Speaker 1 You know, and it, and special forces to that point, what's great about that experience is that if you have any, those redeeming qualities are forced to come out.

Speaker 1 Yes, you know, because you're really challenged and it's nice to see people in those elements.

Speaker 1 What's so unique about the show, too, is I think Fox wants to display those redeeming qualities, which is really cool.

Speaker 1 I don't know if there's another show that exists that does that, like really tries to paint you in a positive light.

Speaker 1 And they still, like, there's still an opportunity to not get painted painted in a positive light, but you almost have to work for it.

Speaker 1 But I, like, all that to say, I think you still have to have a right and wrong, absolute kind of like gauge, but having empathy alongside of that is a good way to live life, I think.

Speaker 1 So, how was Jesse Smallette?

Speaker 6 Very nice. That's what I said this the other day on a podcast.
It got taken out of context by someone. Who knows?

Speaker 6 The internet. Yeah.
All the people. But it's like the most beautiful thing that I loved about the show.

Speaker 6 We didn't know a lot of people when we walked into our first, you know, barracks, but they strip you down. You don't get to wear like your normal style.

Speaker 6 You don't get to like showcase your personality outside of the show.

Speaker 6 You all wear the same thing, do the same thing, and you're forced to be terrified and put in such vulnerable positions and lean on each other.

Speaker 6 And there was not a single person on that cast that I couldn't trust.

Speaker 6 Like when it came down to being scared for my life, and needing someone to like help me through it, each and every one of those people was truly helping everyone around them, including Jesse.

Speaker 1 That's it. I mean, that's a, that's a great quality.
And I say this all the time because I'm always like,

Speaker 1 I'm afraid of the internet and what it's done to our society. Oh, yeah.
And just because you can go online and I'm always like, that's the matrix. Like you're tapping into the matrix.

Speaker 1 And that's where all this divisiveness comes from. But like to, you know, special forces a great example of that.

Speaker 1 But like, just go to a go to a sporting event, you know, and just like the camaraderie, you know, and the people finding common ground rather than than finding where you aren't in agreement, you know, and things like that.

Speaker 1 And Special Forces is a great example of like that atmosphere where you could assume based off what you know about them or what you heard or maybe even what you've seen them say online that you like, I have nothing in common with this person.

Speaker 1 Oh, I don't, I, I hate what they represent or I hate what they stand for, et cetera, et cetera.

Speaker 1 And to still feel safe, like, you know, because really you are relying on these people as your, as part of your unit. It's, it's fascinating.

Speaker 6 I even found, correct me if I'm wrong, but like within the cast dynamics, we so quickly got rid of the outside world.

Speaker 6 And we still had these moments where like you would get frustrated with each other or you would get mad, but it was over something like, how could you have done that in the challenge?

Speaker 6 And they would be like, oh, I'm so sorry. I'll actually do better next time.

Speaker 6 There was such this redeeming quality of it being so simple and being able to confront one another and say, you need to do better. Or I messed up that time.
Or it just made you so human.

Speaker 6 And you forgot about all the drama that the world likes to like bring in on top of it.

Speaker 1 Also, there's nothing like a little bonding that happens through shared suffering. I feel

Speaker 1 through drama. Like, you're all just, you're all villainizing together

Speaker 1 this like terrible experience that y'all went through, which has an amazing side effect of everyone's like, oh, yeah, I can trust you in certain ways. You know,

Speaker 1 so was it tough to be away from the kids? Yeah.

Speaker 2 Or I imagine they're watching.

Speaker 6 No,

Speaker 6 we haven't shown them yet.

Speaker 1 No, you haven't.

Speaker 1 There's so much trying to explain to like even our five-year-old who's the oldest like why mommy's crying or why i'm getting screamed at oh yeah yeah and trying to make that black and white for a mind that can only digest black and white is really difficult yeah that's what age do you feel like they'll be able to start because i imagine it's something that you hope you'll want to show them someday because it's cool what you guys did together we're gonna have to explain all the all the bleep words at first you know you know how many beep beep, beep, beep they have in that show.

Speaker 1 It's like

Speaker 1 you're careful about swearing, he doesn't swear, period. Uh, I did drop a couple f-bombs on the show because you're out there getting destroyed, so like because I have a bit of a sailor mouth, do you?

Speaker 1 All right, yeah, part of some people's personality, you know, it is. I remember literally being in the second grade, like on the playground.

Speaker 1 You, I got taught some swear words, and I remember because I grew up very Catholic, very conservative family, and I remember being like, You swear too much, Nick, and a second grader,

Speaker 1 Second grade.

Speaker 1 I'm going to get in trouble. Like, this is crazy.
I'm like,

Speaker 1 that's funny.

Speaker 2 I'm sure when River starts repeating the swear words, he'll reel it in a little bit.

Speaker 1 But yeah, I don't know. I actually have a take on your internet commentary.
I have thoughts on that.

Speaker 1 Because it is, you know, we've been making YouTube videos for 10 years now, sharing our life voluntarily, which I love.

Speaker 1 I think it's the coolest thing. I love making videos.
I love all the tech and stuff. And then you start reading comments and inevitably there's like quote-unquote negative ones.

Speaker 1 But I think repositioning it from, oh, that's a personal attack to, okay, if my goal is to be the best husband I can be, right?

Speaker 1 Then having access to all these different perspectives is actually really helpful. And like if someone's saying, hey, Andrew,

Speaker 1 you shouldn't have said that or that was too mean. Obviously the comments get way more gnarly than that.
But like, it's actually an interesting gut check of, dang, maybe they were right.

Speaker 1 You know, like, I'll do better next time. You read them every now and then? Actually, you probably read more than I do.
I read them more.

Speaker 1 But you know what I'm saying? Like, it doesn't have to always be

Speaker 1 if it can actually be an edifying thing and refining if you're like, oh, you really have to, and you guys clearly do, have a very strong sense of self.

Speaker 1 And you really have to know who you are to be able to do that, to use online criticism as a, oh, there's some pretty good, you know.

Speaker 1 You know,

Speaker 1 I guess I can be. I guess I am the supervor.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 Well, I mean, I was a villain in my first season of The Bachelorette. So really? Oh, yeah.
Painted that way? I think so. Yeah.

Speaker 1 You know,

Speaker 1 you don't have to do much on ABC Disney to be, you know. But yeah, I was like, I was a serial killer.
I was,

Speaker 1 yeah. I was

Speaker 1 hated. Yeah.

Speaker 1 There was like a whole like. People like seriously trying to explain why you shouldn't be caught in a room with me because I'm I'm a sociopath.

Speaker 1 I was like, you know, maybe.

Speaker 1 But yeah, I can get, you know, it can get, it can get tough.

Speaker 1 I find it easier to disconnect and just tell them that their opinions of me are not my business. Yeah.
And yeah, it's just more like just tapping in. Like, I'm great.

Speaker 1 What I have is gratitude. I have gratitude for people who are willing to care about what we do.
Yes.

Speaker 1 And they're willing to engage with what we do and what they want to think of it as their business and it's not mine and I just thank them for listening and if you haven't yet like them subscribe

Speaker 1 what people are willing to say on their phones it's it's it's not the same as what they're willing to say human to human you know yeah but there's also some misinterpretation that get like if they were if they said one thing and then it just gets poorly translated via text you know I also try to I try to cast it in as much positive I think we're talking like the next level

Speaker 1 if it's like yeah harshly negative then you're like okay well that's just not true that's fine. Well, there's that.

Speaker 1 Well, also, and I say this to people I'm giving relationship advice to when they're, you know, you, people don't read your text messages or comments

Speaker 1 the way you sent them. They read them in whatever emotional state that they're currently in or how they receive it.
They'll put in their own punctuation and things like that.

Speaker 1 So, yeah, that is, you know, on you, but like, it's hard to interpret, you know, you're a disgusting motherfucker in any other kind of

Speaker 1 way.

Speaker 1 You know, Like the video we posted of us singing. I was like, why is Nick Weil here with a green emoji puke face?

Speaker 1 No, I think it was, why is Nick and Andrew here? We both got the puke face.

Speaker 1 You actually got one of those two, which honestly made me feel much better because I'm like, well, I mean, I don't know how you hate Andrew.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 1 How do you describe the puke face?

Speaker 2 Like, oh, they're so great.

Speaker 1 They made me puke.

Speaker 1 They're like laughing, so hard. Screaming, crying, throwing up.
Yeah. I'm laughing so hard.
They puke. I laughed so hard at that video, dude.
Oh my gosh, it is really good.

Speaker 2 It's so funny because Nick went and did that by himself. And he was like, Wait, you're not coming with.

Speaker 1 And I was like, No, no, like, I'm gonna stay with River.

Speaker 2 You got this. And he was like, I just, you know, this is just not,

Speaker 1 you know, I just texted him when he leaves.

Speaker 2 I call him, like, how it wasn't. Like, did you make some friends?

Speaker 1 And he's like, Yeah, you know, they made me take my shirt off.

Speaker 1 I was like, oh no.

Speaker 3 So, I don't know what y'all did with that one, but I was.

Speaker 1 I was working out on Saturday.

Speaker 6 I was not a part of that. I was chasing.

Speaker 1 I think so was Jesse. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. She's like, my husband's the hottest one.
Take your shirt off, guys.

Speaker 1 Well, thanks for coming, guys. This is fun to have you.
You guys are on Special Force. It's every Thursday night.

Speaker 1 And obviously, where can people find you, follow you, your channels, all the great stuff you're doing online? Don't worry about it. Don't do it.
Don't follow us. It's not worth it.

Speaker 1 Apologies in advance. If you stumble upon our stuff, Sean is amazing.
Sean Johnson is.

Speaker 6 And Andrew East.

Speaker 1 Yeah. But we have a blast.
A bunch of nonsense that we post.

Speaker 1 Because we kind of, you know, Nellie goes by Nellie Joy. I go by Nick Vile.

Speaker 1 Do you guys, do, do you guys keep the separate last names?

Speaker 6 No, legally, I'm Sean East.

Speaker 1 Okay. Yeah.

Speaker 6 But I.

Speaker 1 But you're Olympic Goldman of the Song, Jonathan.

Speaker 6 I moved Johnson to my middle name, and I dropped my middle name.

Speaker 1 Also, by the way, Flex, every time I fly into Nashville, I'm always welcomed by you.

Speaker 6 Dude, that is

Speaker 1 so much in the city. Like, Nashville has Nicole Kinman.
Exactly. Tim McGraw.
Tim McGraw. Faith Hill.
And they're like, are you kidding?

Speaker 6 And it's me.

Speaker 1 That's awesome. That's so cool.
I'm always like, pop off, Sean.

Speaker 6 I've had friends in the industry who have done way cooler things to me.

Speaker 1 They're like, who's your publicist?

Speaker 1 I don't know what's happened.

Speaker 1 Hi, I'm Olympic Goldman with Sean Johnson. And welcome to Nashville.
I'm like, oh, my God, thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 I don't know if it's just like, don't take someone else's effing bag at the bag carousel, all right? Sure, I want to say Nate's is really funny.

Speaker 6 Nate Bargatzzi's is funny.

Speaker 1 Yeah, it's pretty funny, too.

Speaker 6 His should be higher than mine.

Speaker 1 Either way, it's a flex. Thanks.
Thanks for coming, guys. Yeah, thanks, man.
It's been a pleasure. Thanks for having us.

Speaker 8 Some moments in your life stay with you forever.

Speaker 8 In a special segment of On Purpose, I share a story about a book that changed my life early in my journey and how I was able to find the exact same edition on eBay years later.

Speaker 8 There are certain books that don't just give you information, they shift the way you see the world. I remember reading one when I was younger that completely changed me.

Speaker 8 Years later, I found myself thinking about that book again. I wanted the same edition back.
Not a reprint, not a different cover, that exact one. So I started searching.

Speaker 8 And that's when I found it on eBay. That's what I love about eBay.
It's not just a marketplace. It's a place where stories live.
Shop eBay for millions of finds, each with a story.

Speaker 1 eBay, things people love.

Speaker 8 Listen to on purpose on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Speaker 1 What a delightful couple.

Speaker 2 They're so sweet.

Speaker 1 Well, check them out on Special Forces. It's a really fun show.
And for all the parents out there,

Speaker 1 if you're looking for some quality program with your kids, I was surprised to find out just how much of how many families out there are watching with their kids. And some valuable lessons there.

Speaker 1 So check it out. And be sure to check out the very dynamic cast of Special Forces, including Sean Johnson and Andrew East.
All right. It's time to talk a little batch Thorette.

Speaker 1 Taylor Frankie Paul's alleged men were recently posted by, was it Cosmopolitan? Yes. So what's the Cosmopolitan?

Speaker 2 Yeah, like how are they getting these people?

Speaker 1 I mean, listen, no, no, this is not like Cosmopolitan does not do anything without the blessing of Warner Brothers and ABC. So there's some kind of collaboration here.

Speaker 1 This isn't like reality blog went rogue and somehow like found out who the men are and are posting it. So like, I don't know, Legend.

Speaker 2 Oh my God. Brad Ledford was on my, he's a, he's a TikToker.
He was on my TikTok the other day. He's like a,

Speaker 2 he wakes up and ranch and he goes.

Speaker 1 What the fuck is he doing on your TikTok?

Speaker 2 Well, ask my for you, ask my algorithm.

Speaker 1 I don't know.

Speaker 2 No, but Brad, he like wakes up and he like wakes up at 5 a.m.

Speaker 2 and he goes to the ranch and he feeds the horses and then he goes back home and he sh goes to the gym and then he goes to the office and he's like a realtor or something and then he goes back to the farm.

Speaker 2 Seems like he has a very busy life.

Speaker 1 All I do is influence her.

Speaker 2 Yeah.

Speaker 2 I mean,

Speaker 1 149,000 followers already. Yeah.

Speaker 2 I, he's got, I think maybe he is more on TikTok.

Speaker 1 Tic Tac. I mean, it kind of makes sense, though.
She, you know, Taylor is your traditional bachelorette, right? Bachelor. You know, it's like you're here for the right reasons.
You come on the show.

Speaker 1 You're a nobody. Maybe become a somebody on your respective season.

Speaker 1 But even as the lead, you're still very new, supposedly, to this whole like social media life that doesn't really start until after you're done with your bachelor journey. But Taylor Frankie Paul

Speaker 1 is obviously not that, right? Before she was even one of the secret lives of Mormon Wives Wives, she was out there like influencing. So it does make sense that it's a little bit more fair game

Speaker 1 or a little more like digestible for bachelor nation to accept you know people who are familiar with that life because it is you know it would be weird for a normie

Speaker 1 to like to to settle down with with taylor and then come out and she's like well here let's we got some videos to make bro

Speaker 3 you know so it kind of makes sense we got excited Leia Sierra and I that these gorgeous, beautiful, amazing men were out here, but we didn't want to go through all of them because some of them were low-key boring.

Speaker 3 So I made a slideshow of each of our top three men.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 3 All right. So Spencer, the reason I picked him is because he looks like the tall ginger guy on SNL.
So I like him.

Speaker 3 But he has an evil haircut.

Speaker 1 So I don't trust it. He does have an evil haircut.

Speaker 3 My theory, I think he's going to cause drama with the men because he doesn't think they're father material.

Speaker 1 The ribbed

Speaker 1 crew neck shirt is a check. It's pretty pretty stressful.
He's 35. He's 35.
I think he's going to get.

Speaker 4 His account is private on Instagram.

Speaker 2 Green flag. Green flag for sure.

Speaker 3 I think he's going to make it to hometowns. I think he's then going to get cut at hometowns because he is still very close friends with a girl he had a thing with in high school.

Speaker 3 And Taylor's going to cry.

Speaker 1 Then we got Ron.

Speaker 3 Ron's a cutie patootie. He's hot.

Speaker 3 I also like Ron. Ron is hot.
So that's number one.

Speaker 3 I feel like based on vibes, he has only ever dated Mormon girls, but not on purpose.

Speaker 1 Lifelong dream is to be someone's baby daddy.

Speaker 3 This is all just what I think based off of one singularity.

Speaker 1 Oh, okay. This is not.
No, no, no. They gave us Aries.

Speaker 1 No, no, no, no.

Speaker 3 This is not Ron as a natural person. This is just what I think after seeing one photo of Ron.

Speaker 2 The Cosmopolitan article gave us zero facts. So it's literally just gauge, location.
We have to use our hands.

Speaker 3 Nothing I am about to say is based on any research.

Speaker 3 To quote my brother, I think that Ron is going to make it to the final rose because him and Taylor have incredible chemistry and they both love to laugh.

Speaker 3 But I do think ultimately he will not get picked and he might be the next bachelor.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 3 That's what I think about Ron.

Speaker 1 Do we know how tall these men are?

Speaker 4 No. No, they still haven't taken your advice on that one, Nick.

Speaker 3 Ron gives taller in person. And then we have Johnny.

Speaker 1 Oh, Jason and Kardick look alike.

Speaker 3 Johnny...

Speaker 3 scares me. And so I picked him because I think he's going to make it to hometowns because he's so crazy.
And I think he's very Italian. And I think his family is going to be really charmed by Taylor.

Speaker 3 And I think Taylor is going to be charmed by a big, chaotic Italian family. You know, I think it's really going to match her vibe.

Speaker 3 I do feel like based off of looking at one picture of him, he has or has had at one point in his life a SoundCloud rap career.

Speaker 3 And then I also do think his ex is going to cancel him on TikTok within three weeks of the show starting.

Speaker 4 And that's why he's in your top three.

Speaker 3 Yeah. I kind of did it based on like who I think is going to be the most chaotic on the show.

Speaker 4 Okay, 11.4k followers on Instagram, but he also has a private account.

Speaker 9 11.4k.

Speaker 1 That's kind of always like a fun, like interesting number, you know. Like,

Speaker 1 how'd you get 11.4k? Did you start an influencing?

Speaker 2 Yeah, it's definitely not like a just around town friend.

Speaker 1 Oh, he's a baseball player.

Speaker 4 No, this is his.

Speaker 4 He is a co-founder of One Bounce Stickball League.

Speaker 1 Okay. Stickball.

Speaker 4 What's ooh? The heck is stickball?

Speaker 1 It's like baseball, but you play with the

Speaker 1 smaller bats followers.

Speaker 2 Do you know what stickball is?

Speaker 4 Is stickball just like a thinner bat?

Speaker 1 Yeah, it's literally baseball with a stick. It was commonly played like in the inner cities with kids who like who couldn't afford equipment and stuff like that.
And they'd play stickball.

Speaker 1 It's baseball with a stick. Cute.
I've played it.

Speaker 4 All right. Here are my top choices.
I did not make up stories for them like Mary did.

Speaker 4 Marcus thought he was hot and he doesn't have an Instagram listed.

Speaker 1 Shout out, Marcus.

Speaker 1 This is giving, I'm a mom and I don't have time for

Speaker 1 stories for these people. That's fine.
No, that's fine. I love that your personalities are coming through on this presentation.

Speaker 1 Okay, Marcus. Well, here's Mike.

Speaker 1 Okay.

Speaker 4 And he's also not on Instagram.

Speaker 2 Same bullet points. Did you copy and paste or did you, did you separately type both of these?

Speaker 4 Separately typed both of these.

Speaker 4 All right. And then this one, this one was interesting because Trenton is a three-time Paralympian.
His Insta bio says, lost my leg, but gained a dream. I like his attitude.

Speaker 1 Yeah. Some of them.
Oh, God. Yeah.
I think they're all private. They're also prime right now, right? Yes.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 Probably because of the Mary said because of the drop. She thinks.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 1 My theory is that I think they because this article is out there on private.

Speaker 2 Oh, yeah, that's smart, honestly.

Speaker 4 I do wonder what she's looking for in religion. Like, is she looking for somebody who's religious? Because Jesus is in his Instagram.

Speaker 2 She did a little interview with Derek Cuff on some random, I don't know.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 2 And basically was like, they don't have to, I mean, I want them to like believe in something and have some sort of like higher power that they believe in, but they don't have to be Mormon.

Speaker 2 They don't, you know. So she, she definitely gave her.
She wants them to be kind.

Speaker 4 All right. Sierra.

Speaker 1 All right.

Speaker 2 Leia, did you write this for Sierra?

Speaker 1 No.

Speaker 3 I was like textings here in Leona and I was like, guys, can you please give me the reasons you think these men and they both gave me absolutely nothing.

Speaker 2 She was like, give us, give me like backstory. And I was like, they gave us nothing.
What am I supposed to go off? This is completely superficially who I think is hot.

Speaker 1 Well, anyways, Doug has a really great jawline and some really great hair.

Speaker 2 Do we have an age for Doug?

Speaker 1 28. I think he's from San Diego.
Okay. How old is Taylor?

Speaker 5 Taylor Frankie Paul is 31.

Speaker 1 What?

Speaker 1 Yeah. Shocking.
I thought, I would have guessed like 27. Isn't Dakota younger than her too, though?

Speaker 2 Like, I don't think

Speaker 2 she's against

Speaker 1 the other women.

Speaker 2 They're all like, I turned 24 this episode. And I'm like, I guess.

Speaker 5 Dakota is 33.

Speaker 1 Oh.

Speaker 5 I think it's because you're thinking because other Mormon wife castmates are younger.

Speaker 2 On to the next. Joe.
He's just hot. I think he's got a great head of hair.

Speaker 4 He seems like he is according to these 10 pixels that. are

Speaker 1 we getting this photo from also it's also giving a little jason tardic there's a couple jason There's a couple Jason Tardic's in here.

Speaker 2 Here's his IG. I'm guessing it's going to be

Speaker 1 Los Angeles. Private.

Speaker 4 Oh, he's the host of Sports Betting Network.

Speaker 1 Sports betting. Uh-oh.

Speaker 2 And my last one, of course, was Brad because Hockey. I think Brad's hot.
Have you also seen him on your TikTok for you page? I have never seen him.

Speaker 2 That was the first time that you said that was the first time I've heard this, but I was like, he's giving kind of Jacob Belordie vibes.

Speaker 1 He's got boots, a bale of hay on the back of a truck.

Speaker 2 Yeah, the TikToker that does days in his life. And And he's Newport Beach, California, and Nashville.
So, you know, he travels.

Speaker 1 Who is the guy? I saw him in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on there.

Speaker 2 He was my fourth choice, actually, because he seems like the nice guy, like the nice neighbor that you fall in love with, you know, from like, oh my God.

Speaker 2 But then look at his profile photos. So like, unassuming, it's like, here's a 12-pack.

Speaker 4 I'm not into this. Yeah.

Speaker 4 I immediately said no after

Speaker 1 Instagram. It's an aggressive flex.

Speaker 3 Gonna be a no for me, dog.

Speaker 1 But credit to him. He's he's jacked.

Speaker 2 It's just a difference from the photo that they chose versus the photo he presents himself.

Speaker 1 What's the other photo that Cosmo showed?

Speaker 2 Like, he looks like he runs a coffee shop in Seattle or something. He does with his vest.
Really nice guy.

Speaker 4 I was about to put him on my list, and then I opened his IG and I saw his profile picture, and I was like, nope, I don't love that he's wearing a vest, but I do wear the vest for him.

Speaker 1 I hate a vest.

Speaker 3 No, vests are for

Speaker 3 lesbians, and that's about it.

Speaker 1 Yeah, the Midwest. Straight men in vests.
Ladies out there, your man should not be wearing a vest or shorts. The ultimate cringe is the vest, shorts, and flip-flops with a visor.

Speaker 1 Visor? Where's the visor?

Speaker 3 I'm going to start wearing that just to piss you off.

Speaker 1 It's shocking. You would think that's just like a costume, but it's shockingly done.

Speaker 4 I do just want to shout out Richard because his last name is crazy.

Speaker 3 What is it?

Speaker 4 Richard Vanderwater.

Speaker 1 That's like Brian. Haelie Frankie Paul Vanderwater, the mostly.
Oh, my my god. Taylor Frank Paul Vanderwater.

Speaker 1 He's just a regular guy.

Speaker 2 Oh, he looks sweet from Charleston, South Carolina.

Speaker 1 Love him. Oh, my God.
Hot.

Speaker 2 I like the mustache.

Speaker 1 The mustache.

Speaker 4 Yeah. He is not private on Instagram.

Speaker 1 Oh, let's stop.

Speaker 2 Oh, my God. He's a photographer.
Oh, he can shoot her content. I love this one.
Wait, I like it.

Speaker 1 Oh, man.

Speaker 2 He's so handsome. Wait, and he's how old?

Speaker 1 35?

Speaker 2 Wait, I think I love this for her. I hope she's with Richard.
Does she have her phone?

Speaker 1 Pick Richard.

Speaker 1 All right. Well,

Speaker 1 it looks like a promising bunch of men. Yeah.

Speaker 1 What is this drama going on with Whitney Levitt and her dancing partner? You guys sent a video about them addressing something. I kind of watched it.
Can someone bring us up to speed?

Speaker 5 I didn't know about this until they did like the quote-unquote apology video, but basically Whitney and Mark announced a ticket giveaway for the live show of Dancing with the Stars and they promised tickets, flights, accommodations.

Speaker 5 But then soon after they announced it, they were forced by production and the network to to cancel it because you can't do a giveaway for live tickets.

Speaker 1 What was how did you qualify for the giveaway?

Speaker 5 I don't remember because they took that video down and most people didn't see it until they did the apology. And in the apology, they're basically like, we just got out of rehearsal.
We're so sorry.

Speaker 5 Like we were forced by the network to not do it.

Speaker 5 We can't actually do ticket giveaways, but we're going to find like another method that works or another way to like make it feel like it was worth it to fans.

Speaker 1 I imagine people must be pissed about this because it's kind of giving

Speaker 1 animals crude.

Speaker 5 It's giving bribery a little bit.

Speaker 2 Whitney was like, hey, guys, vote for us. And if you vote for us, you could potentially win tickets to the live show.

Speaker 1 Is that what it was?

Speaker 1 I think it had to be.

Speaker 5 I'm trying to show appreciation for the people that voted is what it was.

Speaker 1 I don't know, though, how they were. I was going to say, but how do you know? How do you know who voted?

Speaker 5 That I, I mean, the original video is not up anymore, so I don't know what it is.

Speaker 3 Maybe ABC was like, this doesn't make any sense. You can't do this.

Speaker 1 I kind of blame Mark. Yeah, I feel like he should know better.

Speaker 1 Like, well, Mark's been a pro dancer off and on forever. Like, he's an OG.

Speaker 1 And, like, Whitney, you know, she's, this is kind of part of like the influencer mom life, the giveaways, you know, like, it's a fairly common thing.

Speaker 1 I doubt Whitney made the connection between like the optics of how this might look.

Speaker 2 I feel like this wasn't a conversation with anyone besides Whitney and Mark. Like, I feel like they weren't like, let's ask whoever's in charge of the tour and the live shows if we can do this.

Speaker 2 I think it was like, you know what we should do? Let's give away some of the things that we're doing.

Speaker 1 It was definitely like Whitney and her team's idea. And then, but I feel like Mark should have been like, I'm not sure if we should do that.

Speaker 2 The twist it's kind of saying or why it got shut down, because many people pointed out it seems like it would be a rules violation for a viewer vote based competition show. Yeah.

Speaker 2 Bribing for votes, of course, is against the rules. And you should have talked to Disney ABC before this.
So I guess that's what it is. It's like they can't sit here and offer a paid vacation.

Speaker 2 Here's your accommodations and free tickets that are already free and be like, but vote for us.

Speaker 1 I feel like this is just an honest mistake. I think Mark should know better.
I totally get why Whitney wouldn't have thought about something like this.

Speaker 1 And in the influencer space, giveaways is a really common thing to do now and then, you know, so I will say to Mary's point, the influencing space of giveaways has a history of being scams.

Speaker 5 Cause I don't know if you guys remember Bethany Moda. No.
But she used to do a ton of giveaways and she was the internet. I'm sure a lot of our audience members know her.

Speaker 1 Anyways. What do you mean by scams?

Speaker 5 Like she would do, she would announce a giveaway, but she wouldn't send all the products that were allegedly in the giveaway. But like it's a big way to rack up like followers and like likes.

Speaker 1 Like those posts with people that have like they wouldn't actually give the prizes that they claimed they would give.

Speaker 5 Same thing with Kim Kardashian. I mean, I'm sure they do.
Yeah, behavior.

Speaker 5 Those ones are real, but like what Sierra said, like you post with a ton of like Hermes bags and you're like, like this photo and you might be entered in the interview.

Speaker 1 And enter in. Yeah.
And there's no way for anyone to track who's getting what.

Speaker 5 I mean, I've never personally seen someone post those ones at least.

Speaker 2 And even then, some people could say that it's like whatever fine print in there where it's like, maybe they don't get everything that's in the picture, but you think you're submitting for everything in the photo.

Speaker 2 And then it's like, well, you get the iPad in a bag, but not 20.

Speaker 1 I'm sure there have been scammy type of people, but I think also people have done giveaways and it's been very kosher and very legit.

Speaker 3 I don't think Whitney was trying to scam.

Speaker 1 I don't think so either.

Speaker 3 Justice for Whitney.

Speaker 4 I also think she's good enough that she doesn't need to.

Speaker 1 I agree.

Speaker 3 In the housewise for a second, Garcelle told Andy Cohen her friendship with Sutton is over for good. Justin, how do you feel about this?

Speaker 5 I mean, I was more surprised that she did watch What Happens Live. I know.
I thought it was kind of like we're kind of exiting the sphere of reality TV.

Speaker 1 Yeah, you're always going to stay in the good graces of Mr. Andy Cohen.
Yeah,

Speaker 3 her beef was in Sutton, not with Andy.

Speaker 5 I think, I mean, she unfollowed all Sutton brands, like or like Instagram social handles.

Speaker 1 I mean, that's a meaningful statement to come on. I mean, sometimes, you know, the fallout of a season's tensions are high.

Speaker 1 You know, you're in your feels.

Speaker 1 And as they always say, you you know, time heals all wounds, except for, you know, how you feel about Sutton, apparently.

Speaker 1 But yeah, I mean, for her to come on and be like, nah, I don't fuck with her anymore. I've heard through other people, Garcell feels very backstabbed by Sutton.

Speaker 1 You know, Garcell really had Sutton's back through thick or thin.

Speaker 1 And

Speaker 1 it comes down to everything that I think people suspect and talk about is like when push came to shove, Sutton chose Kyle and kind of wanted to be in the in-group and kind of was quick to dismiss Garcelle and having her back.

Speaker 1 And at a time where Garcell, I think she feels like I always had your back, you know,

Speaker 1 I was always there for you. And when I needed something,

Speaker 1 you didn't step up for me. It's kind of reminded me of this past episode of Real House was OC.

Speaker 1 I'm like, listen, I've said this on many episodes. We're good friends.

Speaker 1 It's objective, you know? People want to say, I'm your friend. You're my friend.

Speaker 1 you know, we're best friends, you know, whatever it means, but like, you can really tell who's really your friend in various moments.

Speaker 1 Like, I, you know, now I talk about it all the time and certain things will happen and I'll say to, you know, they're not our friends or they're not your friend.

Speaker 1 And so when, when Shannon is having, you know, whatever you think about Alexis Bellino or whether Jen should be friends or not, like. There's no, let's like, Jen, be friends with Alexis.

Speaker 1 Maybe Shannon is overreacting, right? Tamra came on the show. She likes Alexis.
She thinks John is a stand-up dude. That's not really the point.

Speaker 1 The point is you don't get to say, well, I'm your friend and you can count on me and

Speaker 1 I'll ride or die with you, but I'm cool with them because they haven't done anything to me. It's like, that's fine.

Speaker 1 But if you say that to me and I really don't fuck with someone and someone, you know, you might not agree with my point of view, but if I'm like, hey, they hurt me and they hurt my feelings and they've gone out of their way to cause me pain.

Speaker 1 You don't get to claim that you're my great friend if your response is to, like, well, I fuck with them because they haven't done anything to me. That's not the point.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 You know, the point, like, and again, maybe you could say, like, hey, we're casuals. Like, yeah, I'm friendly with this person.
We're friends.

Speaker 1 I get along with them, but they're like, I'm not there like bestie. You know, like, there's a lot of people out there like I'm cool with, I'm friendly with them.

Speaker 1 But the way, you know, the way Jen wants to like demand Shannon's like loyalty and closeness and like we are, you know, sisterhood, but then on the flip side, say, well, they haven't done anything to me is the most irritating response when people, they want their cake and eat it too.

Speaker 1 They want the, we're rider dies. I'm there for you through thick or thin.
We're best friends. But like, they haven't done anything to me.
So like, I'll hang out with them. Fuck that.

Speaker 1 It's the most irritating thing in the world.

Speaker 2 It's also the way she kind of turned it around on Shannon too, where it was just like, oh, if, so knowing that I'm friendly with Alexis makes you think of me differently, that's fucked up.

Speaker 1 And it's like, it makes us think of our friendship differently.

Speaker 2 Yeah, and it's like, I feel like I can't trust you or say anything around you because I don't know. Are you going to go and like talk to this person that I'm not friends with?

Speaker 2 Or heaven forbid, you get mad at me for something that I don't know about and then you go run to Alexis about my shit.

Speaker 1 Like, I don't know.

Speaker 2 Well, if you have no idea what we're talking about, we do have a rapid recap of the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Speaker 2 Shannon, in a move similar to Mary when she was in college, got too high last night night and was still stoned the next day. Then Heather and Gina do shrooms and go look at tulips.

Speaker 2 Shannon grabs a plaster horse by the penis. Question mark.
Jen is friends with Alexis apparently and can't understand why Shannon thinks that's weird.

Speaker 2 Gina thinks that Jen and Shannon's friendship is fake as fuck. She also won't stop talking when she's high.
Heather Dubrow is made to wear a hat that says, I love Cock.

Speaker 2 Gretchen tries to apologize to Tamra. Tamara says she's not relevant but wants them to stop fighting.

Speaker 2 Gretchen doesn't think that there will be a change because Tamra hasn't accepted Jesus Christ into her heart. Gretchen can't stop crying.
Jen's broke allegations allegations are brought up again.

Speaker 2 Tamara thinks she should get a job. Gretchen apparently has liked really gross posts on Instagram.
No one says what the posts are, but Gina said Heather's going to have a problem with that.

Speaker 3 And that was OC.

Speaker 2 And that was OC.

Speaker 1 Do we know what the posts are?

Speaker 3 I mean, I did some digging online and found what allegedly the posts are. You don't have to do digging.

Speaker 5 I mean, before the season even aired, people know Gretchen Rossi engages publicly with certain posts. Like she comments on them.
She likes them. You can literally easily search it.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 3 And to be honest like i think a lot of my attitude towards gretchen as we have been covering this stems from being aware of that and not liking that so well i think we wait to make our judgments until the finale where we see what this will obviously be addressed

Speaker 5 i'm assuming this is part of the finale and obviously the reunion so yeah it is it is a part of the finale i was telling mary that I hate that the sound bite of Gretchen screaming that I've been waiting for is from the finale addressing these posts.

Speaker 5 Yeah. Because I wish it was something that wasn't actually important.

Speaker 2 What was the sound?

Speaker 5 I think it's her being like, like, why would you do that to me? Or like, I'm not that person. It's like, it's something, but she's like screaming into the car in a black outfit.

Speaker 5 And that was in like the original trailer. And I've been waiting for that sound bite.
And like, now that it's a part of this, I'm like, oh.

Speaker 2 I do think it was fucked up that Gina decided to tell Shannon at the table that Jen did not want her bridal shower.

Speaker 1 That was wild.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 2 Like, she thought it was ridiculous. Like, Gina, shut up.

Speaker 1 Gina this whole episode. Well, she wasn't a mushroom, girl.

Speaker 2 I guess, but mushrooms doesn't make you, like, that chatty.

Speaker 5 I was going to say, mushrooms don't do that to you, girl.

Speaker 3 My guess is she micro-dosed and then also smoked weed.

Speaker 1 That's our kids.

Speaker 2 Yeah, she was just hungry and just saying how she felt.

Speaker 5 I think she wanted to start drama and she took a shroom and she's like, here's my excuse.

Speaker 3 She was like, you know what? I'm on shrooms. I don't think you guys like each other.

Speaker 2 Yeah, I was like, cause that you could see like her brain working it out while she was saying it.

Speaker 2 Cause at the same time, it didn't make sense how she was trying to call herself into it, being like, and I have put my family back together. And she wouldn't say there's no party for me.

Speaker 2 So everyone else was.

Speaker 3 You do get really honest.

Speaker 1 I do have to say, though, I mean, yeah, sure, she was wrong. But like, Jen also didn't need to like

Speaker 1 low-key throw a little shade in Shannon's direction for the kindness that Shannon tried to do for Jen. I mean, like, there was only one way for Gina to interpret.

Speaker 1 Jen saying that was because it was, you know, it was done in a kind of a shit talking, kind of caddy sort of like, oh my God, I would never do that.

Speaker 1 But like i guess she can throw me a party and clearly shannon put forth effort into this party i mean if you if you're shannon and you did this for a friend and you saw a clip of that friend having that conversation with gina that would hurt your feelings i think that would hurt my feelings 10 times more than a hi gina telling me the second time around i mean i'm you know is gina wrong sure i but i think more than anyone like you know Don't kill the messenger.

Speaker 5 By the way, you know what this was giving to me was Beverly Hills, the Wii dinner when Denise was like, Thank you.

Speaker 1 Yeah. To Erica, and Erica's like, what?

Speaker 5 Where it's like the conversation with Gina was going like five different ways and like everybody was catching a story until Emily was like, do you ever just shut up?

Speaker 2 Well, and it even backs up Emily's point where she was like, your friendship seems fake because you are going with other people and kind of talking shit about Shannon, but then being like, here's our synchronized dance.

Speaker 1 But also, the fakeness goes both ways, though.

Speaker 5 Like, and I love Shannon, but it was weird because by the end of the episode, they were like doing synchronized dancing in the crowd, like going off by themselves.

Speaker 5 And I'm like, weren't you just fighting two seconds ago? Like, so it does feel weird.

Speaker 3 Yeah, I don't, I don't see their friendship lasting for years upon years upon years. Yeah.
You know what I mean? They don't seem ride or die to me, but they seem like convenient allies on the show.

Speaker 3 Yeah.

Speaker 1 Well, you know what a friendship is that I does think will last for years, despite the current drama of this season of Salt Lake City, is Mary and Angie.

Speaker 1 We watched the premiere season of

Speaker 1 Housewives Edition. Angie from Salt Lake City was your premier housewife.

Speaker 1 And Mary made a little cameo, and it was like a really cool glimpse to, you know, it felt like a more honest glimpse into their friendship where like Mary stopped by to check on the family.

Speaker 1 I mean, obviously they're still filming, but it was like, even in that brief glimpse of this cameo, it was very, it just was very different vibes in like a Salt Lake City episode.

Speaker 1 Mary seemed to be dressed more casual. You really saw the bond and the closeness.
Anyways, it's a really charming show. I mean, it was, it's,

Speaker 1 I don't know if they're going to always do this. I imagine they will, but like a housewife swaps with a, a fan, a normal wife with a very interesting life.

Speaker 1 The family that Angie swapped with was like living off the grid.

Speaker 2 Like a whole complete homestead. I mean, it was just like cheap.
No running water. No running water.

Speaker 1 You had a toilet with a plastic bag in it.

Speaker 2 I'm glad to know it's only, what, 24 hours?

Speaker 4 Right?

Speaker 1 It was 48, right? 48 hours. Just two days.

Speaker 2 But like, that's better than, I thought it was like a week, you know?

Speaker 1 Like,

Speaker 2 at least it's only two days and it was cute to like angie took the husband out and he was like

Speaker 2 and they're like he's like crying he's like she taught me that like i can oh my god it was just it was very heartwarming and it was very sweet yeah i think it was also really cute for like

Speaker 3 Elektra to like plant a little garden and then like it was nice.

Speaker 1 I was like, she was so over that. The team.

Speaker 1 She was like, all right, when's this woman leaving?

Speaker 3 I know her name's not actually Electra Catsanevas. I don't know what Sean's last name is.

Speaker 3 But to be Elektra Catsanevis is a dream of mine.

Speaker 1 I would love her life.

Speaker 2 Well, we also had Married at First Sight. It's the new season.

Speaker 2 Is it now streaming on Peacock?

Speaker 1 It's now streaming on Peacock. I think it used to be on like a Lifetimer or something.
I don't know. How many of you are?

Speaker 1 But if you are a Bravo fan and you

Speaker 1 are often finding yourself on Peacock, it is a wacky show. These people...

Speaker 2 They like seem normal, but then you like, you know, they're not because they're marrying a stranger.

Speaker 1 Yeah.

Speaker 3 Like, what happened in your past relationship that you're marrying a stranger?

Speaker 2 And they're all like my age. They're all like 27, like young.
And I'm like, you still got time.

Speaker 1 Maybe I'm here to advocate for these people because one, I think dating is hard, you know?

Speaker 1 And for, if you're out there and we talk to a lot of people and people are churning and burning through dates.

Speaker 1 And, you know, I think most of the problem when it comes to dating is the person you're looking at in the mirror. You know, it's just just like there's so many options.

Speaker 1 If things aren't perfect, we have lost the like kind of the old-fashionedness of like love, which is like, you just, you make it fucking work. I'm not, obviously it's crazy.

Speaker 1 I am just saying when you look at the stats of these relationships from the past, you know, you have 11 marriages, you have like 14 kids. They have better stats than Bachelor Nation.
And I don't know.

Speaker 1 In a world where like people are lonelier than ever, I'm, who am I to judge? People are like, you know what? Fuck it.

Speaker 1 Give me someone who wants to make a marriage work, that wants to have a family that is like, I don't know.

Speaker 1 All I'm saying, it's not as like crazy as like people like us would assume based off how we date and live our lives, that the happiness factor in these relationships are far better than you would assume.

Speaker 2 I guess what's harder for me is just the love is blind. Like at least you like have this like talking.
So you're like falling in love with someone's soul per se.

Speaker 2 But like

Speaker 2 to be married and then be like, now I'm finding out everything about you, like just, I, I, I, and I'm going to watch, but I'm just like, this, that whole concept blows my mind.

Speaker 1 I want to find, like, are these like, are they signing a marriage certificate? Because like destination weddings, very popular these days.

Speaker 1 If you go, let's say go to Mexico, for example, for your, for your wedding, you're not.

Speaker 1 actually married by that ceremony because you can't get legally married in Mexico if you're a United States citizen. So often you will go to a courthouse prior to to or following said ceremony.
Right.

Speaker 1 So I don't know where these wedding takes place. It seems like they're taking place in the States, but like you could have, you know, you could have a TV ceremony.

Speaker 1 I wonder if these are legally binding

Speaker 1 right off the jump.

Speaker 3 Okay. Honestly, I kind of like locked into it more than Love is Blind.
I think I was saying earlier that it does.

Speaker 3 I think the fact that they're married and they both Everyone's like, whoa, kind of helps me suspend my disbelief a little bit more. Yeah.
So I'm like, you know what?

Speaker 3 I think everyone is a bit self-aware that this is insane. So let's see how it goes.
And I, because love is blind.

Speaker 3 And like, I don't know, some of these other dating shows, I'm just like, okay, let's be for real.

Speaker 1 Well, the first two couples who got married in episode one were like, to Nali's point, like,

Speaker 1 normal. Like, they're both attractive couples.
They, they clearly are matching him with the intent of having this work out. They both seem like they're, you know, physical equals.

Speaker 1 They're attractive people. Compelling stories.
Who's the the one guy who's like, his mom was in prison and he met his dad? It was Jaylen a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 1 And he's like a self-employed roofer who's making pretty good money.

Speaker 1 Will and Brittany, they're both kind of like, I thought it was really cute where they're talking about like their types and they're both kind of describing like a nerd in a way. Yeah.

Speaker 1 You know, um, well,

Speaker 5 Brittany was the interesting one to me because in the like the intro, she's the one that's crying at the end saying like, I've never felt love like this before. And I was like, see, that's emotion.

Speaker 1 When he was talking to Brittany's dad about, like, are you religious? That was hilarious.

Speaker 3 That was awesome.

Speaker 2 He's like going into the history of religion.

Speaker 1 No, but your family loves Jesus Christ, right? And he's like, and he was like, well, the Crusades. No, the Christians killed a lot of people.

Speaker 3 The Crusades were like really, really devastating.

Speaker 1 And he was like, all right, well, you play dominoes. Yeah.

Speaker 3 He's like, no, but spades.

Speaker 2 Yeah, he definitely wasn't. Will's definitely not like a people pleaser.
He's like, I don't, this is who I am. No.
So I won't play dominoes with you, but I will play spades.

Speaker 3 really liked him. Him even just like using, because sometimes I'll use words and people are like, why are you saying that word? And I'm like, can I not just use a vocab board for fun?
